Ten to One
Selected Poems
By Bob Perelman
Bob Perelman's poetry is alternately lyrical, polemical, funny, self-critical and didactic, and consistently engaging. In this, his first selected volume, the author of The Marginalization of Poetry delivers a stunning poetic portrait of late 20th-century America. This volume includes work from all of Perelman's previously published collections.
About the Author
BOB PERELMAN is Associate Professor of English at University of Pennsylvania. His volumes of poetry include Virtual Reality (1993), Face Value (1988), The First World (1986), and Primer (1981). He has also published critical works, including The Marginalization of Poetry (1996) and The Trouble with Genius: Reading Pound, Joyce, Stein, and Zukofsky (1994).
Reviews
"His poetry often sacrifices heated affects for a sort of plain-spoken irony . . . Perelman deploys a choice set of tonal registers to great effect . . . Many poems work well as 'assays,' genially exposing Janus-faced paranoia and capital like a sort of poker-faced, technocratically versed Ginsberg."—Publishers Weekly
