Biodiversity in British Columbia

Our Changing Environment

This book examines biodiversity in British Columbia with the purpose of identifying large-scale changes in, and emerging threats, to it.

Part I considers the importance of an ecosystem-centred approach to the conservation of biodiversity and explains the methods of classifying rare species. Part II focuses on the diversity of species in British Columbia with articles contributed by leading authorities on vertebrate, invertebrate, and plant taxonomy. Part III looks at the diversity of forest, grassland, marine, and urban environments and the global impacts on local ecosystem diversity. Finally, Part IV discusses the various methods of protecting biodiversity and their effectiveness.
